2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil ? HCl is the hydrochloride salt preparation of 2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil, an inhibitor of Na|+|/Ca|2+|exchanger protein (NCX). Blockade of NCX by 2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil was shown to inhibit the K|+|-induced suppression of endothelium-dependent relaxation and to suppress the correlated increase of intracellular Ca|2+|concentrations. NCX blockade by 2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil also abolishes histamine-induced Ca|2+|oscillations. 2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil is described to inhibit whole-cell inward currents stimulated by 8-Br-cGMP at nucleotide-gated cation channels. Caffeine-induced release of Ca|2+|internal stores from olfactory receptor neurons and formation of a caffeine-induced current were blocked by 2',4'-Dichlorobenzamil.
