Cell Line Origin
Mouse BALB/c embryo
Cell Line Description
Cells have now lost their contact inhibition.
Application
3T3 clone A31 cell line from mouse has been used:
- to study in vitro cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of retinyl palmitate–loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles for the topical treatment of skin diseases
- for the characterization of the phototoxicity of Vemurafenib, which is a B-Raf serine/threonine kinase inhibitor
- for the phototoxicity assessment of systemically applied compounds and drug candidates
Tumourigenicity and virus studies: SV40 and MSV
Culture Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 5% New Born Calf Serum (NBCS) + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:5 to 1:20 i.e. seeding at 5x1,000 to 2x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
