Acetochlor belongs to the class of chloroacetamide herbicides, widely used against annual grass and broadleaf weeds. A long-chain fatty acid inhibitor, it is used for pre-emergence and pre-plant control in crops such as maize, peanuts, soybeans, cotton, potatoes, and sugarcane.
According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1372/2011 of 21st December 2011, acetochlor is not approved for use in the European Union (EU) as a plant protection agent, following Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. But maximum residue levels of 0.02 mg/kg and 0.05 mg/kg are allowed for its presence in frozen/fresh fruits and tree nuts respectively, according to the EU Reg. No 2015/603.
Application
The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
Acetochlor CRM may also be used as given below:
- To develop a method for quantifying acetochlor and its metabolites in soybean and corn samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
- QuEChERS-based sample preparation and ultra high-performance liquid chromatographic-tandem mass spectrometric (UHPLC-MS/MS) detection of clomazone and acetochlor residues in soybean samples
- Analyze a modified QuEChERS-based sample extraction and clean-up method followed by validation using gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS analysis) to determine 176 pesticide residues from different chemical classes in fatty matrices
- Development of a sample treatment method based on ultrasound-assisted solvent extraction and solid-phase extraction clean-up for the quantification of five amide herbicides in fish samples by gas chromatography-electron capture detection (GC-ECD)
- Simultaneous residue analysis of 42 pesticides in four egg samples using extraction based on the QuEChERS method and determination by UHPLC-MS/MS and GC-MS
- Analysis of 20 herbicides in human blood samples by liquid-liquid extraction combined with ultra-pressure liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS)
