Cell Line Description
Derived from an adenocarcinoma of the stomach of a 54 year-old Caucasian female with no prior anti-cancer treatment. AGS cells are persistently infected with parainfluenza virus type 5 (PIV5).
Application
AGS human cell line has been used:
- to study the role of obestatin/G protein-coupled receptor 39 (GPR39) in gastric cancer progression
- to determine expression levels of colon cancer associated transcript -1 (CCAT1)
- to study the adhesion of Lactobacillus sps. to the gastric mucosa
Anti-tumour testing
