General description
A2B5 (also known as F12A2B5) is a cell surface ganglioside expressed on developing thymic epithelial cells, oligodendrocyte progenitors, and neuroendocrine cells. It is highly expressed in embryonic and neonatal tissue, but in the adult mammalian brain its expression is restricted mainly to areas that retain neurogenic potential, such as the subventricular zone (SVZ). Hence, A2B5 is considered as a marker for immature glial-committed precursors, which are permanently generated in the SVZ. Its expression is also considered as a marker for various cancers, including astrocytoma, glioma, pancreatic islet tumors, and squamous cell carcinoma. Explants from A2B5+ tumor cells display a typical progenitor morphology and clearly indicate their immature state. Tumors expressing A2B5 antigen exhibit higher rates of recurrence.
Specificity
This monoclonal antibody detects A2B5 in mammalian cells.
Immunogen
Embryonic chicken retinal cells.
Application
Anti-A2B5 Antibody, clone A2B5-105, Alexa Fluor™ 647 Conjugate Cat. No. MAB312-AF647, is a highly specific mouse monoclonal antibody that targets A2B5 and has been tested in Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry.
Flow Cytometry Analysis: 1:400 dilution from a representative lot immunostained the surface of PC12 cells.
The unconjugated antibody (Cat. No. MAB312) is also available for flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry applications.
Quality
Evaluated by immunocytochemistry of PC12 cells.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 Dilution of this antibody immunostained the surface of PC12 cells.
