General description
Angiotensin II receptor, type 1 (AGTR1) is a G-protein coupled receptor possessing seven transmembrane functional domains. AGTR1 gene spanning around 45.1kb, with five exons, is located on human chromosome 3q21−q25. AGTR1 is highly expressed on endothelial cells, monocytes, podocytes, renal vascular smooth muscle cells and renal arteries.
Angiotensin II receptor, type 1 or AT1 receptor (AGRR1, AT1R) is a receptor for the vasoconstriction peptide angiotensin II involved in the regulation of cardiovascular effects such as blood vasoconstriction (blood pressure), aldosterone and vasopressin secretion, cardiac hypertrophy, vascular smooth muscle cells proliferation, decreased renal blood flow, renal renin inhibition, renal tubular sodium reuptake, modulation of central sympathetic nervous system activity, cardiac contractility, central osmocontrol and extracellular matrix formation.
Rabbit polyclonal anti-AGTR1 reacts with mouse, human, and rat angiotensin II receptor.
Immunogen
AGTR1 antibody was raised against a 16 amino acid peptide from near the center of human AGTR1.
Application
Anti-AGTR1 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in in situ proximity ligation assay (PLA) and immunoblotting.
Rabbit polyclonal anti-AGTR1 is used to tag angiotensin II receptor for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of angiotensin II receptor in the regulation of processes that affect vascular functions such as blood pressure and blood flow.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Angiotensin II receptor, type 1 (AGTR1) has a key function in vascular smooth muscle contraction and maintenance of vasopressor effects by controlling aldosterone secretion. The binding of angiotensin II to AGTR1 contributes to the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells by the activation of G protein. The binding also results in the activation of Ca2+ dependent kinases as IP3 (inositol triphosphate) and MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinases) for the synthesis of proteins and expression of proto-oncogenes, respectively. AGTR1 is associated with high risk of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
