Immunogen
α-2-Macroglobulin (validated) native human protein.
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 68765, sequence 1-1474
Application
Anti-α-2-Macroglobulin antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting at a working dilution of 1:500 and for cell staining at a working dilution of 1:200. It is also used for indirect ELISA.
Biochem/physiol Actions
A2M (α-2-macroglobulin) inhibits all four classes of proteinases by a unique ′trapping′ mechanism. This protein undergoes a conformational change when a proteinase binds and cleaves a specific peptide stretch called the "bait region" in the protein. This modified protein traps the bound proteinase It is involved in the clearance and degradation of Aβ, which is a major component of beta-amyloid deposits. Therefore, it is associated with Alzheimer′s disease (AD).
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
