General description
The protein named density-regulated protein (DRP1), also known as DRP, or Protein DRP1 or Smooth muscle cell-associated protein 3 (SMAP-3), and encoded by the gene DENR/DRP1, is an important translational control protein that appears to function by scanning target mRNAs for the recognition codon when complexed with the translational initiation complex. DRP1 also modulates the translation of particular cancer-related mRNAs when recruited to the translational complex by the oncogene MCTS1 and DRP1 is up regulated in many cancers such as ovarian and breast cancers. Additionally, DRP1’s expression is regulated by increasing cell density through interaction with heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein D (HNRNPD) protein, a critical protein that complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA and pre-mRNAs and fosters mRNA stability. Density-regulated protein (DRP1) is localized to the in heart, skeletal muscle, brain, placenta, liver and pancreas, with weaker expression seen in lung and kidney.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected DENR in human cerebral cortex and human cardiac myocytes tissue.
Quality
Evaluated by Western Blotting in PC-12 cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: 2.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected DENR in 10 µg of PC-12 cell lysate.
