General description
Cytoplasmic dynein is a microtubule-associated motor protein (Hughes et al., 1995 [PubMed 7738094]). See DYNC1H1 (MIM 600112) for general information about dyneins.[supplied by OMIM

Biochem/physiol Actions
Dynein Light Intermediate Chain includes two isoforms LIC (light intermediate chain)1 and LIC2, that are 65% identical in primary sequence. Dynein cytoplasmic 1 is known to move towards the minus end of the microtubule carrying a number of cargo. LIC2 is associated with cytokinesis and ensures its completion during cell cycle. DYNC1LI2 (dynein cytoplasmic 1 light intermediate chain 2) promotes efficient transition from metaphase to anaphase by inactivation of spindle assembly checkpoint at metaphase.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4
