General description
Lysyl oxidase homolog 2 (UniProt: Q9Y4K0; also known as EC: 1.4.3.13, Lysyl oxidase-like protein 2, Lysyl oxidase-related protein 2, Lysyl oxidase-related protein WS9-14, LOXL2) is encoded by the LOXL2 gene (Gene ID: 4017) in human. The copper-dependent LOX family contain four LOX homologs (LOXL1, LOXL2, LOXL3, and LOXL4). LOXL2 localizes to both cytoplasmic and nuclear region. It catalyzes the post-translational oxidative deamination of lysine residues on target proteins leading to the formation of deaminated lysine (allysine). When secreted in extracellular matrix, it promotes cross-linking of extracellular matrix proteins by mediating oxidative deamination of peptidyl lysine residues in precursors to fibrous collagen and elastin. LOXL2 also acts as a regulator of sprouting angiogenesis, probably via collagen IV scaffolding. When present in the nucleus, it acts as a transcription corepressor and specifically mediates deamination of trimethylated Lysine 4 of histone H3 (H3K4me3), a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation. Overexpression of LOXL2 has been reported in a number of cancers and its ability to promote epithelial to mesenchymal transition suggest that it might play a role in tumor progression. Higher expression has been correlated with metastasis and reduced survival in patients with aggressive breast cancer. LOXL2 is shown to upregulate in gliomas and drives tumorigenicity by activating autophagy. LOXL2 activity is strongly induced in hypoxia, and it is reported to be a direct transcriptional target of HIF1A. (Ref.: Grossman, M., et al. (2020). Cancer Res; 76(14); 4249-4258; Zhang, Q., et al. Specificity
Clone GS341 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Lysyl Oxidase homolog 2 (LOXL2). It targets an epitope within the C-terminal half.
Immunogen
His-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 231 amino acids from the C-terminal half of human Lysyl Oxidase homolog 2 (LOXL2).

Physical form
Purified mouse monoclonal antibody IgG1 in PBS without azide.
Storage and Stability
Store at -10°C to -25°C. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Other Notes
Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
