Biochem/physiol Actions
RNA-binding protein EWS is a protein encoded by the EWSR1 gene in humans and is located on human chromosome 22. It is involved in a wide variety of sarcomas as well as some non-mesenchymal tumours. EWSR1 is a ′promiscuous′ gene that can fuse with many different partner genes, resulting in identical tumours. It can partner with the same genes in morphologically and behaviourally different neoplasms. EWSR1 rearrangement is also associated with a variety of salivary gland lesions including classic myoepitheliomas and hyalinizing clear cell carcinomas (HCCCs). It also acts as a novel modulator of cis-acting replication element (CRE) function in hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
