General description
IL-8 (interleukin-8), also called CXCL8, is an α chemokine belonging to the cysteine-x-cysteine (CXC) chemokine subfamily. It is a pro-inflammatory cytokine and is secreted by multiple types of tissues and blood cells such as, monocytes, neutrophils, tissue macrophages, T-lymphocytes, endothelial and epithelial cells, and fibroblasts. It is pro-angiogenic and tumorigenic, and is produced by cancer cells such as, colorectal cancer cells.
Immunogen
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 124359, sequence 28-99
Recombinant interleukin-8
Application
Anti-Interleukin-8 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Interleukin-8 (IL 8) is a proinflammatory chemokine that activates multiple signaling pathways. The exosomes released from chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cells stimulate bone marrow stromal cells to produce IL 8. It plays a very important regulatory function in tumorigenesis. Its polymorphism is associated with a significantly increased risk of cancers and may be useful for cancer susceptibility studies.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
