General description
Phospholamban (PLN) gene codes for a small integral membrane protein. It is located on human chromosome 6q22.1. PLN is a 52-amino-acid phosphoprotein.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human PLB around the phosphorylation site of Ser16 and Thr17.
Immunogen Range: 1-50
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phospholamban (PLN) participates in calcium signalling and muscle contraction. This protein regulates the activity of the sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase (SERCA) of cardiac myocytes. Mutations in the phospholamban (PLN) gene result in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and severe heart failure.
