General description
Rab (Ras-related in brain) 13 is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 1q21.3. It is a member of Rab family of proteins. The encoded protein is ubiquitously expressed and is mainly localized at the trans-Golgi network, on recycling endosomes, on late endosomes, and at the plasma membrane.
Application
Anti-Rab13 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in:
- immunoprecipitation
- immunofluorescence
- western blotting
Biochem/physiol Actions
Rab (Ras-related in brain) 13 plays a vital role in both biosynthetic and endosomal recycling pathways. It is also involved in the regulation of membrane trafficking at the level of endosomes. Rab13 helps in the transport of cargo (integrins) to the plasma membrane, disruption of cell-cell adhesions. Additionally, it aids in cell migration by rearranging actin cytoskeleton attached to surface delivery of selective proteins. It also plays a crucial role in cancer progression. Rab13 is also involved in a putative secretory function in osteoclasts.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosÂphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
