General description
Zinc finger protein 593 (UniProt: O00488; also known as Zinc finger protein T86) is encoded by the ZNF593 (also known as ZT86) gene (Gene ID: 51042) in human. Zinc fingers are small protein domains wherein zinc plays a structural role contributing to the stability of the domain. Proteins containing zinc fingers are structurally diverse and perform a broad range of functions, including DNA replication and repair, transcription and translation, metabolism, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. Zinc finger domain 593 (ZNF593) belongs to the ZNF593/BUD20 C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family and contains a single C2H2 type zinc finger (amino acids 61-85). ZFP593 is largely disordered, with the exception of the zinc finger domain. It displays ubiquitous distribution and has been detected in spleen, prostate, testis, small intestine, and colon and in lower levels in thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. ZFP593 is shown to negatively modulate the DNA binding activity of Oct-2. It can act either by binding to DNA octamer or by interacting with Oct-2. (Ref.: Srikrishna, S., et al. (2003), Nucleic Acid Res. 31(2): 532-550).
Specificity
This polyclonal antibody detects zinc finger protein 593 in murine embryonic stem cells. It targets an epitope of 14 amino acids from the C-terminus.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 14 amino acids from the C-terminal end of human Zinc finger protein 593.
Application
Anti-Zinc finger protein 593 Antibody, Cat. No. ABE1358, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets Zinc finger protein 593 and has been tested in Immunoprecipitation and Western Blotting.
