DescriptionAntifoam Compound is a silicone foam control agent that is 100 percent active. Effective in both aqueous and nonaqueous systems, it can be used in concentrations as low as one part per million.How To UsAmount NeededAntifoam Compound works effectively in very low concentrations. One to 100 parts of antifoam per million parts foamer are sufficient to eliminate most foams. Begin trials at higher use levels (50 ppm active silicone), then work down to the level of foam control desired. The following are parts per million equivalents:3.34 ounces in 500 gallons 50 ppm6.67 ounces in 1,000 gallons 50 ppm16.68 ounces in 2,500 gallons 50 ppm5.0 quarts in 25,000 gallons 50 ppmAdding the AntifoamTo produce optimal foam, the antifoam must be completely dispersed in the foaming medium. Follow these steps to achieve complete dispersion:1.Agitate the product prior to use.2.Predilute with 3 to 10 parts of a suitable low-viscosity diluent to aid in dispersion. Add the antifoam to the diluent with slow mixing. Prediluted material should be used immediately. For solvent systems, Antifoam Compound may be predispersed in solvents such as kerosene, amyl acetate, 2-ethylhexanol, Stoddard solvent or toluene. Note: When using any solvent, follow manufacturer’s recommended safe handling instructions and any federal, state or local regulations.3.Add the antifoam prior to the point where foaming occurs within the system, if possible.4.When used as supplied, the antifoam can also be wiped on filling nozzles, rims of processing vats or on a screen suspended over the surface of a foamy system.Usable Life And StorageProduct should be stored at or below 40°C (104°F) in original, unopened containers.LimitationsThis product is neither tested nor represented as suitable for medical or pharmaceutical uses.ApplicationsFoam preventative for aqueous and nonaqueous industrial processes.
