Cell Line Origin
Rat exocrine pancreatic tumour
Cell Line Description
Derived from a transplantable tumour of a rat exocrine pancreas. The line is tumourigenic in nude mice, and shows significant secretion of amylase and other exocrine enzymes.
Application
AR42J has been used to obtain a tumor mouse model by inoculating it subcutaneously in a female, athymic nude mouse. It has also been used to perform imaging studies.
Culture Medium
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Cells grow in hollow spheroid colonies that can attach loosely. Split cultures 1:2 every 48 hours into fresh flasks, maintain cultures between 1-9x100,000 cells/ml. Adherent cells should be dislodged using 0.2% EDTA. N.B. High cell viability cannot be ex
