Bennhold's Congo Red Stain Kit

• Solution I - Congo Red
• Solution II - Lithium Carbonate (Saturated Aqueous)
• Solution III - Ethanol (80%)
• Solution IV - Harris’ Alum Hematoxylin

A simple and reliable procedure which provides a permanent stain for amyloid.

CONTENTS: Congo Red, Lithium Carbonate, Ethanol, Hematoxylin, Potassium Alum, Mercuric Oxide (Red)

These solutions are made from certified dyes (when applicable).

FOR IN VITRO DIAGNOSTIC USE ONLY.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE: Fix in absolute alcohol or 10% formalin (Product # 9700). Stain in Sol. I for 10 - 20 minutes or longer if a deeper color is desired. Dip for 15 seconds in Sol. II. Decolorize with Sol. III until stain no longer washes out. Wash in running water for 15 minutes. Counterstain 1 - 8 minutes in Sol. IV. Wash in tap water, dehydrate, clear and mount.

RESULTS: Amyloid - red; nuclei - blue; hyalin and colloid - unstained.
