General description
Monoamine oxidases (MAOs) are important enzymes that catalyze the transformation of various neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, and phenethylamine. They have two functionally distinct but structurally similar isoforms (MAO-A and MAO-B). The ability to differentiate the isoforms by using fluorescence detection/imaging technology is biologically relevant, but challenging with currently available chemical tools.
BioTracker Red MAO-A Live Cell Dye is a specific two-photon fluorogenic probe for detecting and visualizing MAO-A activity. This probe may be used to detect MAO-A enzymatic activities in various biological samples, including live mammalian cells, mouse and human tissues by using two-photon fluorescence microscopy with minimal cytotoxicity.
