Cell Line Origin
Bovine adrenal medulla endothelial
Cell Line Description
The bovine cell line was established from collagenase-dissociated, adrenal medulla tissue. The cells display a capillary endothelium morphology with relatively large cell bodies and produce factor VIII:C. Tests for BVDV have shown that the cell line is producing both detectable BVDV antigens and infectious BVDV.
Application
Blood clotting studies
Culture Medium
EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37°C. Passage cells every 5 to 7 days.
