Calcium ionophore IV (ETH 5234) was used in preparing membrane for the pseudoreference electrode in tetrahydrofuran, in a study to demonstrate electrochemical sample matrix elimination for trace level potentiometric detection.

Calcium ionophore IV may be used in the preparation of Ca²⁺-selective membrane utilizing AlGaN/GaN transistors for potentiometric calcium ion detection.
