General description
An endogenous protease inhibitor that acts specifically on Calpain I (Cat. No. 208712), a Ca2+-dependent cysteine protease. Widely distributed in mammalian and avian cells. Has better inhibitory action than Calpain Inhibitor I (Cat. No. 208719) and Calpain Inhibitor II (Cat. No. 208721). Calpastatin corresponds to domain I of human calpastatin. The inhibitory sequence of human domain I consists of at least 18 amino acid residues.
Domain I of human calpastatin. Endogenous protease inhibitor that acts specifically on Calpain-1 (Cat. No. 208712). Exhibits greater inhibitory potency than calpain inhibitors I and II.
