Cell Line Origin
Human Caucasian skin, B/D translocation
Cell Line Description
Detroit 573 was initiated in 1967 from a skin biopsy of a deceased new-born female with multiple congenital anomalies. Approximately 94% of the cell population is 45,XX,t(Bp-;Dq+). The translocated B/D chromosome morphologically resembles a group A-2 chromosome. The cell line is susceptible to polyvirus type 1 and vesicular stomatitis (Indiana Strain) virus.
Application
Karyology studies
Culture Medium
EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) + 0.1% Lactalbumin hydrolysate (LH) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
