Furazolidone is an effective antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. Application Furazolidone may be used as a reference standard: For the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by second-derivative spectrophotometry.

Application Furazolidone is a nitrofuran derivative with antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity. Furazolidone binds bacterial DNA, which leads to the gradual inhibition of monoamine oxidase.
