EC Broths with MUG is recommended for the detection of Escherichia coli in water, milk and food samples by fluorogenic means. MUG detects anaerogenic strain that may not be detected in the conventional procedure. BGBB contains two inhibitors of both gram-positive and selected gram-negative organisms, namely, oxgall and brilliant green dye. Fermentation is detected by gas production.
