Ecotin,|E. coli|is a strong broad range inhibitor of prothrombin (serine proteases). The compound exhibits picomolar binding constant for the inhibition of chymotrypsin, elastase, Factor X(Factor Xa), Factor XII(Factor XIIa), kallikrein, and trypsin. Ecotin,|E. coli|also acts as an effective inhibitor of MMP(collagenase), and exhibits biological activity by binding trypsin in the picomolar range. Ecotin, E. coli is an inhibitor of granzyme B.
