FOR IN VITRO DIAGNOSTIC USE ONLY.
RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE: Deparaffinize through (1 part peanut oil - 2 parts xylene) 2 changes, 12 minutes each. Drain, wipe off excess oil and blot to opacity. The residual oil helps prevent shrinkage and injury of section. Sol. I - 30 minutes at room temperature. Wash in tap water - 3 minutes. Differentiate slides individually with Sol. II until sections are faint pink. Wash in tap water - 3 minutes. Sol. III - 30 seconds. Rinse in water, blot and ALLOW TO AIR DRY THOROUGHLY. Before mounting, dip slide in xylene.
RESULTS: Acid-fast bacilli - red; Lepra bacilli - red; Norcardia filaments - red; background - pale blue.
