Stains for fungi and Pneumocystis jirovecii in just 15 minutes. This kit includes a 15 minute microwave procedure and the traditional one hour and thirty minute procedure. The MasterTech G.M.S. Staining Kit is suitable in lieu of and comparable to the Grocott Methenamine Silver Technique. The MasterTech G.M.S. Stain Kit differs from this technique through the use of a stabilized, pre-measured Methenamine Silver Compound, instead of Methenamine Borate, Hexamine, or Silver Nitrate Solutions. This benefits the end user through ease of use and a longer shelf life. A Methenamine Silver Developer Solution serves as the primary stain, with Gold Chloride toning the tissue sections, producing gray to black fungi and Pneumocystis jirovecii against a green background counterstained with Light Green. 100ml Stain Kit yields between 20 and 32 slides. Pint Stain Kit yields between 100-400 slides. Liter Stain Kit Yields between 240-800 slides. Slide Yields assume maximum slides stained per run, maximum runs per use. Pint Kit Consists of: Methenamine Silver Compound 20 vials (10 vials make 500ml working solution, includes Sodium Borate), 5% Chromic Acid pint, 1% Sodium Bisulfite pint, 0.3% Gold Chloride pint, 2% Sodium Thiosulfate pint, Light Green Counterstain pint and plastic slide jars. Liter Kit Consists of: Methenamine Silver Compound 40 vials (10 vials make 500ml working solution, includes Sodium Borate), 5% Chromic Acid liter, 1% Sodium Bisulfite liter, 0.3% Gold Chloride liter, 2% Sodium Thiosulfate liter, Light Green Counterstain liter and plastic slide jars. All kit components are available for purchase individually. Both kits are sealed with a tamper-evident label for quality assurance.
