General description
This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ. Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate. Download your certificate at: http://www.sigma-aldrich.com
Haloxyfop-P is the stereospecific R-isomer and a metabolite of haloxyfop, that belongs to the group of aryloxyphenoxypropionic acid herbicides. It is used for post-emergence control of annual and perennial grass weeds in sugar beets, fodder beets, oilseed rape, potatoes, leafy vegetables, onions, flax, sunflowers, soybeans, vines, strawberries, and other crops. Haloxyfop-P is absorbed by leaves and roots and hinders fatty acid biosynthesis by inhibiting the Acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACCase) enzyme.
According to Regulation (EC) 1107/2009, repealing Council Directive 91/414/EEC, haloxyfop-P is approved for use as an herbicide in European Union (EU) for post-emergence foliar applications on carrots, fodder legumes (beans, peas dry), rape seeds, soya beans, and sugar beets. The maximum residue level (MRL) for Haloxyfop (Sum of haloxyfop, its esters, salts, and conjugates expressed as haloxyfop (sum of the R- and S- isomers at any ratio)) is set from 0.01 mg/kg to 0.4 mg/kg for products of plant and animal origin according to Regulation (EU) 2017/1016.
Haloxyfop-P has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.
Application
The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques. The haloxyfop-P (also known as haloxyfop-R) CRM may also find following uses:
- Evaluate the efficacy of the herbicide haloxyfop-R isolated and associated with 2,4-D (DMA 806 BR) in the control of volunteer RR maize at different stages
- Development of an analytical method to determine residues of haloxyfop-R and its methyl ester in soils and soybeans using gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) with an electron capture detector (ECD)
- Evaluate the effects of herbicides associated with cover crops (Pennisetum glaucum, Crotalaria spectabilis, and Urochloa ruziziensis) in soybean desiccation management for volunteer RR corn control
