Cell Line Description
Derived from bone marrow removed from a female patient with multiple myeloma. The cells synthesise IgG at a rate of 2.4ug/1,000,000 cells/day and have receptors for insulin, calcitonin and human growth hormone. They also exhibit surface markers and receptor sites characteristic of B lymphocytes.
Application
Biosynthetic and surface marker studies
Culture Medium
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Maintain cultures between 2-4x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Maximum cell density 1,000,000 cells/ml.
