General description
This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ. Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate. Download your certificate at: http://www.sigma-aldrich.com
Isoxaflutole is a member of the isoxazole herbicide family and is used for pre-emergence control of a wide range of important broadleaf and grass weeds in corn and sugarcane. This herbicide is an inhibitor of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) enzyme, which results in blockage of carotenoid biosynthesis, and thus causes bleaching in susceptible weeds. Isoxaflutole is characterized by low use rate, rapid dissipation, and very low mammalian toxicity.
According to Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 (repealing Directive 91/414/EEC) isoxaflutole is approved for use in European Union (EU). As per Reg. (EU) 2015/845, the maximum residue level (MRL) for the presence of isoxaflutole (sum of isoxaflutole and its diketonitrile-metabolite, expressed as isoxaflutole) in various products of plant and animal origin is from 0.02 mg/kg – 0.2 mg/kg.
Application
The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques. Isoxaflutole CRM can also be used to:
- Determine the effects of temperature and moisture on dissipation, transformation, and mineralization in isoxaflutole controlled laboratory conditions
- Evaluate the effect of organic matter, soil pH, Ca2+ concentration, and clay content on the sorption of isoxafutole and determine the sorptive behavior of isoxafutole by five different soils varying in physical and chemical properties
- Investigate the effect of isoxaflutole on overall growth, nodulation, and nitrogen fixation capacity of one isoxaflutole tolerant and one isoxaflutole sensitive chickpea cultivar
- Study the effect of soil properties on the degradation of isoxaflutole and the sorption−desorption of isoxaflutole and its diketonitrile degradate on soil
- Evaluate the effect of a mixture of flufenacet and isoxaflutole on microorganism population, ecophysiological diversity index, colony development index, enzymatic activity of soil, and maize growth
