Cell Line Origin
Human acute T cell leukaemia
Cell Line Description
Derived from Jurkat E6-1 clone (Sigma Catalogue number. 88042803) after gamma irradiation and complement-mediated lysis with anti CD45. Low expression of CD45 (5-8% compared to parent line) results in defective signal transduction through TcR and the accessory molecule, CD2. Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is produced in response to calcium ionophore and phorbol ester stimulation, but it does not produce IL-2 in response to TcR or CD2 stimulation.
Culture Medium
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Maintain cultures between 3-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C.
