Cell Line Origin
Rat skeletal muscle myoblast
Cell Line Description
A subclone of L6, a rat thigh muscle cell line. Previously, on reaching confluence the cells fused to form myotubes and a twitching movement could be observed. However, these cells have lost the ability to fuse after reaching confluency.
Culture Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split semi-confluent cultures to a seeding density of 1.5-2x1,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37 C. Cells have lost their ability to fuse after reaching confluency.
