Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that is routinely used for the generation of F(ab)₂ fragments from immunoglobulin G (IgG). The pepsin has the ability to cleave the heavy chains near the hinge region.

Reducing agents are used in the reduction of disulfide bonds of proteins and peptides. It is often necessary to remove the reducing agents from the protein/peptide solutions to prevent them from interfering with subsequent procedures.

Immobilon-NC (HATF) membrane is composed of a mixed cellulose esters matrix. It is devoid of surfactants that may interfere with cell wall integrity during cell growth.
