This TLC plate can be developed using purely organic, organic/aqueous, and purely aqueous mobile phases. Due to this these plates have been used in numerous applications in normal phase chromatography as well as reversed phase chromatography.

These reversed phase TLC plates have been manufactured to be greater than 50% and less than 100% silanized. Because of this they are hydrophobic, but wettable.
