General description
Lipase B from Candida antarctica (CAL-B) is a serine hydrolase, α/β-hydrolase, and is a member of the lipase family. CAL-B is composed of an α/β-hydrolase fold and the active site contains a Ser-His-Asp catalytic triad.
Application
Lipases are used industrially for the resolution of chiral compounds and the transesterification production of biodiesel.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Lipase B from Candida antarctica (CAL-B) acts as a catalyst for producing amines, amides, and alcohols.. It is used as a biocatalyst in research and industry. CAL-B is involved in the hydrolysis of triglycerides. Lipases are used industrially for the resolution of chiral compounds and the transesterification production of biodiesel. Lipases catalyze the hydrolysis of triacylglycerols into glycerol and free fatty acids.
Lipases catalyze the hydrolysis of triacylglycerols into glycerol and free fatty acids.
