General description
Research area: Cell Signaling
Recombinant, full-length, human MAP Kinase 1/Erk1 containing an N-terminal GST tag
Biochem/physiol Actions
Extracellular-signal-regulated kinase 1 (ERK1)/ Extracellular-signal-regulated kinase 2 (ERK2), as part of the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signal transduction cascade, are involved in regulating a wide range of cellular processes, including cell adhesion, cell cycle progression, cell migration, cell survival, differentiation, metabolism, proliferation, and transcriptional control. Additionally, ERK1 signaling contributes to the regulation of cyclin D1 expression during the cell cycle. MAP kinases play a crucial role in inflammation and immune responses by regulating the production of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, as well as prostaglandins, in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation.
