The nominal working volume of these cells is as little as 20% of that for standard cells of the same path length. Required volume of the Semi-Micro cells (8491S04, T21, T22, S51 and S52) of 0.9 mL can be reduced by elevating the cell so long as the light beam does not strike the walls of the cell. If beam width of spectrophotometer approaches 4 mm, a suitable self-masking cell should be used. 8490A07 and A11 cells should only be used with instruments that have a 15 mm "Z" dimension or greater, not an 8.5 mm "Z" dimension.
