Cell Line Origin
Mouse C57B1/KaLw embryo
Cell Line Description
Derived by cloning from a parent line produced from normal mouse embryo tissue (C57B1/KaLw). The cells have spontaneously transformed in vitro. The cells are negative for polyoma virus infection but are susceptible to the virus.
Application
Transformation and virus studies: Polyoma virus
Culture Medium
NCTC 135 100% + 2mM Glutamine.
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using mechanical methods to dislodge the cells (e.g. scraping); 5% CO2; 37°C.
