General description
This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ.
Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate.

It targets protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) and causes the accumulation of photosensitizing porphyrins, which in turn lead to lipid peroxidation and membrane disruption.
Nitrofen is not approved for its use in the European Union (EU) as an active substance in plant protection products, according to Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. But a default maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01-0.02 mg/kg is applicable for its presence in products of plant and animal origin following the regulation (EC) No 149/2008.
Application
The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
Nitrofen CRM may also be used as given below:
- Development of a binary solvent-liquid phase microextraction (BS-LPME) method for sample treatment followed by gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) analysis of alachlor, nitrofen, and bifenox in well, dam lake, and river water samples
- Analysis of 10 samples of fruits and vegetables for the presence of 11 pesticide residues by combining TpPaNO2 (Tp stands for 1,3-triformylphloroglucinol and Pa-NO2 stands for 2-nitro-1,4-phenelynediamine) fiber-based solid-phase microextraction with gas chromatography-electron capture detection (GC-EID)
- Evaluating the use of triazine-based conjugated microporous polymer (TCMP) as a fiber coating for the solid-phase microextraction (SPME) of 12 halogens-containing environmental hormones from three fruits and five vegetable samples for their determination by gas chromatography-electron capture detection (GC-ECD)
- Multi-residue determination of 27 pesticides from different chemical classes in wine samples using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
- Quantitative analysis of 113 pesticides and their metabolites in different fruit and vegetable samples using gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) with deactivated programmable temperature vapourising (PTV) injector
- Simultaneous determination of 133 pesticides in commercially available chenpi samples by a combination of modified QuEChERS method and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)
