Nonyloxytryptamine enhances neurite outgrowth of cultured primary neurons, protects neurons from oxidative stress, enhanced Schwann cell proliferation, reduces migration of astrocytes and enhances myelination in vitro.

Nonyloxytryptamine is known to possess antiproliferative and cytotoxic effect. It has been studied for its use in the treatment of breast cancer.
