May be used as a general counterstain in the following procedures: Gridley’s reticulum stain, Snook’s reticulum stain, Lepehne’s method for hemoglobin, Ralph’s method for hemoglobin, Kossa’s method for calcium, Pizzolato’s method, Puchtler-Sweat method for basement membranes, Osmium tetroxide method for fat in frozen sections, Gomori’s method for iron, Mallory’s method for iron, Perl’s method for iron, Tumbull’s Blue method for hemosiderin, Sudan Black B stain for fat, Alcian Blue (short method) with and without hyaluronidase, Mallory’s reaction for iron, and Stain’s bile pigment stain.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE: The staining time depends upon the stain procedure being employed. The time varies from a few seconds to 5 minutes.
