Paroxetine is a phenylpiperidine derivative. It has the ability to cross placenta. Paroxetine is known to increase the risk of congenital cardiac malformations. It might be useful in hormone replacement therapy for treating vasomotor symptoms during menopause. It is known to ameliorate the effects of panic disorder, obsessiveâ€Âcompulsive disorder and social phobia.
