Human prealbumin is a product of chromosome 18. It is a serum protein, synthesized primarily in the liver. It is a tetrameric protein with a molecular weight of 55 kDa. Human prealbumin is composed of four identical non-covalently bound monomers of 127 amino acid residues arranged with tetrahedral symmetry.Application:Human prealbumin was used to study reduced transthyretin expression in sera of lung cancer.Prealbumin from human plasma has been used as a positive control in immunoprecipitation as a reference standard in quantitative rocket immunoelectrophoresis for quantification of cerebrospinal fluid.
