Product is human fibronectin and buffer salts. Purified Human Fibronectin is used as immunochemical standard and also as a cell attachment and proliferation assays on human endothelial cells, human keratinocytes and human dermal fibroblasts. Human fibronectin (HFN) is suitable for use as an attachment factor in the propagation of cells in vitro when used to coat cell culture surfaces, including plasticware, glassware, and microcarrier beads. Human fibronectin is purified from human plasma using multi-step procedures which may include gel filtration, ion-exchange chromatography and immunoabsorption. The product is dialyzed into 0.02M sodium phosphate, 2.0M sodium chloride, pH 7.3 with 0.05% sodium azide, filtered through a 0.22 µm filter and vialed. All blood products should be treated as potentially infectious. Source material from which this product was derived was found negative when tested in accordance with current FDA required tests. No known test methods can offer assurance that products derived from human blood will not transmit infectious agents. The total protein is determined using the Biuret procedure, with bovine albumin as the standard. Each vial is overfilled by approximately 10 percent so that a minimum of 1 mg of human fibronectin is recovered.
