Purple HiVeg Agar Base, 100G

Hiveg media used for studying carbohydrate fermentation reactions, particularly in the identification of gramnegative enteric bacteria on addition of the desired carbohydrate. These media are recommended by FDA for fermentation studies of sugars. Application: For Preparation of Carbohydrate Media used in Fermentation Studies For the Cultural Identification of Pure Cultures of Enteric & Other Microorganism Appearance of powder: Greenish yellow colored, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel of MV098 Color and Clarity: Purple colored, clear gel forms in petri plates, clear solution in tubes Reaction: Reaction of 3.1% w/v of MV098 or 1.5% w/v of MV284 aqueous solution is pH 6.8 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural characteristics observed after incubation at 35 - 37°C for 18 - 48 hours
