Hamster Syrian melanotic melanoma
Cell Line Description
Derived from a spontaneous malignant melanoma in an aged golden Syrian hamster. The cells have the ability to produce melanin in vitro. The TD50 for new-born hamsters is 68 cells.

Culture Medium
McCoy′s 5a + 2mM Glutamine + 10-20% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 i.e. seeding at 1.5x1,000,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
