Cell Line Origin
Bovine adrenal cortex, normal
Cell Line Description
Derived from the fasciculata-reticularis zone of the adrenal cortex taken from three normal adult cows. FGF stimulates cell division. Cells are responsive to ACTH and other steroidogenic agents. Finite lifespan; 60-70 population doublings expected. Studies have indicated that this cell line produces both detectable BVDV antigens and infectious BVDV.
Application
Hormone studies
Culture Medium
Ham′s F12 with Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) (crude, 50ng/ml or pure, 500 pg/ml) + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
