SDF-1α (stromal cell-derived factor 1 α) and β are stromal derived CXC chemokines, and signal through the CXCR4 (C-X-C motif chemokine receptor). SDF1α is an isoform of CXCL12 (C-X-C motif chemokine 12, also referred to as SDF-1). The gene is mapped to human chromosome 10q11.
