Transferrin is a monomeric glycoprotein found in plasma at an average concentration of 250 mg/100 ml. The specific iron-binding protein in plasma, it has a role in the transportation and distribution of iron among the body organs, in iron metabolism and prevention of iron loss via the kidneys. Stored in bone marrow as Tf-bound iron, it also possesses bacteriostatic and fungistatic activity. An important transport factor used in defined culture media, transferrin is required by all types of cells for maximal growth. Heat-treated at 60°C for 10 hours.Lyophilized from sterile de-ionized water after filtration using a 0.1 micron filter.Readily soluble at 1% in water.Endotoxin level: <1 EU/mg by LAL testingBioburden: <10 CFU/mg; Mycoplasma: None Detected
Specification: ≥98%(SDS-PAGE), Bio Processing Grade; Iron Content: >= 1200 ug/gram
